The Southern Tier Primary Care Provider Section Chief is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and is credentialed and privileged through the Medical Staff Office as a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP). The PCP Section Chief is accountable for the management of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants working in the Primary Care clinics affiliated with the Madison VA. These clinics are located in Janesville, Rockford, and Freeport. The PCP Section Chief will also cover for the Northern Tier Primary Care Provider Section Chief in their absence. The Primary Care clinics practice under the Patient aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care, and the PCP Section Chief will promote and ensure that Primary Care LIPs and PAs work within this interdisciplinary medical home model to provide care. The PCP Section Chief is responsible for anticipating provider staffing needs, hiring Primary Care Providers, and ensuring that patient care provided by the LIPs and PAs meets the recognized standard of care through FPPE/OPPE review. The PCP Section Chief makes certain that all personnel under their supervision receive required/recommended training, maintain required licensure, and practice within the scope of their practice. The PCP Section Chief advocates for and allocates available resources to promote high quality, cost effective, customer focused, safe, and compassionate care in keeping with the mission, vision, and values of this health care facility. The PCP Section Chief will conduct routine staff meetings as needed, will work to resolve conflict between staff, and will collaborate with other managers as needed to coordinate a resolution or action plan. The PCP Section Chief provides input into executive level decisions and keeps staff informed of executive level guidance/direction for clinical and administrative efficiency. The PCP Section Chief functions as an NP leader within the organization and will continue to practice as a part-time provider of care in order to serve as a role model to staff. Clinical practice may include providing coverage for patients assigned to other team members when required by circumstances. The PCP Section Chief will practice according to the Standards of Practice for Advanced Practice Nurses, with Full Practice Authority as defined by the VHA Directive 1350, and according to the approved clinical privileges. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse AND nurse practitioner in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
