Met Lab Technician

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Verify and maintain heat treating.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Verify heat treat process controls.
Disposition of suspect product.
Write Heat Treat recipes.
Write Heat Treat and Metallurgical procedures.
Accurately test product - tensile, surface, core, and case.
Write legibly and completely.
Route parts to the next operation.
Keep workstation clean and orderly.
Attend departmental meetings.
Adhere to Company policies as described in Associate handbook.
Follow all procedures as they pertain to this position.
Other tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
ASM Heat Treat Course or equivalent.

Close vision-to visually inspect parts
Depth perception-to visually inspect parts
Ability to adjust focus-to visually inspect parts
Loud noise (examples: metal can manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment) is typical for the work environment of this job.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This individual must learn (or know) testing procedures of Rockford Products and SAEASTM etc., and will be audited to assure all procedures are followed.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
