Winnebago County Courthouse, Rockford, IL SUMMARY OF
Responsibilities:
Provide customer service to individuals who are representing themselves in court by helping individuals with forms and instructions and computer resource assistance.
Assess patrons' needs and answering questions related to requests in a professional manner and educating self-represented litigants about the law library and available materials.
Maintain self-help center materials and keep track of law library utilization.
Act as liaison between the law library and legal self-help center and Circuit Clerk's Office.
Other related duties to aid in the operations of the Legal Self-Help Center as assigned by the Law Library Director.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, computer proficiency, and demonstrate the ability to exercise discretion and compassion when assisting with patrons legal matters.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to conduct themselves in a professional and objective manner, as well as, the ability to communicate effectively with individuals of various backgrounds and cultures.
Familiarity with legal system, terminology and forms is preferred.
Ability to work independently is important.
