Summary:
Coordinates, oversees and delivers patient care system-wide using an interdisciplinary approach, utilizing the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Directs and provides patient teaching activities.
Maintains standards of professional nursing practices.
Documents complete and accurate patient information in compliance with Patient Services Department policy and other regulatory agency requirements.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
Coordinates family involvement in assessment and treatment of the patient.
As a scrubbed member of the operating room team, plans for and prepares the sterile field with sterile instruments and supplies, anticipating the surgeon's needs throughout the procedures.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current RN licensure to practice in the State of Illinois and required certification for respective nursing departments.
Bi-annual CPR certification required.
Specialty certification in area of concentration preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate and concerned manner.
Willingness to accept responsibility.
Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique required.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Good organizational skills required.
Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Ability to direct ancillary and assistive staff and organize work assignments.
Leadership skills essential to the position.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers of the organization.
Ability to transition between facilities based on the needs of the health system.
