Quick Apply Full-time 2 hours ago Full Job Description JOB SUMMARY Under guidance/supervision of the operative surgeon, assists in the perioperative care of patients in surgery and performs duties as assigned.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Utilize acquired knowledge and skills related to perioperative patient care, procedures, and equipment in order to provide safe, individualized patient care.
2.
Implements safe, competent and efficient patient care within policies, procedures and standards.
3.
Assists in patient positioning and prepping of the surgical site 4.
Drapes patient 5.
Assists in maintaining hemostasis by direct pressure, use and application of appropriate surgical instruments for the task, placement of ties and sutures ligatures, application of chemical hemostatic agents or other measures as directed by the surgeon.
6.
Assist in retracting tissue 7.
Use of electrocautery both monopolar & bipolar 8.
Clamp, ligation and cutting of tissue per surgeons' directive 9.
Assists in endoscopic procedures 10.
Preserves privacy and dignity of patients.
11.
Maintains patient/family confidentiality.
12.
Observe infection control procedures to minimize the risk of cross-contamination between surgical patients and staff.
Practice universal precautions at all times.
13.
Assist with dressings and transfer of patient from operating room table to recovery chairs/carts.
14.
Help as needed with patient and accompany patient to post procedure area; when OR staff are unable to transport to the pre/post area from the OR.
15.
Demonstrate ability to work effectively in demanding working conditions.
16.
Establish and maintain open communication with co-workers, team members, and OR Manager to assist in smooth execution of the daily schedule.
17.
Demonstrate personal characteristics and interpersonal skills to work closely with many team members at the same time.
18.
Perform other site-specific duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Minimum:
Certification of Surgical Technology Preferred
Experience:
1 year First assisting job experience Licenses & Certifications Minimum:
CPR / ACLS Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Possess good communication skills and the ability to maintain interactive/interpersonal relationships Available and willingness to change hours as staffing needs require Adaptable to varied and quickly changing duties without requiring detailed or repeated instructions Must have ability to establish priorities in fulfillment of duties Professional demeanor Ability to work as a member of a team Ability to prioritize tasks Job Type:
